“There was never yet an uninteresting life. Such a thing is an impossibility. Inside of the dullest exterior there is a drama, a comedy, and a tragedy.”
― Mark Twain
We can not tell from the outside what a person’s life has been. When we reach out and talk to people we never know what we may find out. So many turn away from the elderly. Just think of all the interesting stories that are missed by not engaging with them. Stories from a long-lived life with lessons learned. Do we think they have nothing worth sharing? What can we learn from them?
Thanks for sharing this quote and your thoughts on it. So true. I like talking to elderly people because some have so much to share and are great story tellers.

That is true. People often think that I am ‘dull’, but they have no idea who I am on the inside or when I’m alone with those I feel comfortable with. Just more proof that we can’t judge a person by their cover.

Yep, I agree. Having our unique experiences in life is what keeps us all blogging, too! 🙂

Excellent post! It is so true that the elderly have amazing stories. (Everyone else has a story to tell, too, but the wealth of experience that the elderly have is vast.) I am still hearing new things from my father. 🙂

It is good to ask questions and hear the stories while the people are still with us.
