That would be a good title for a blog hop. I am writing this note for Writer’s Workshop hosted by John Holton. The prompt for this week’s post is ‘window.’
I thought I would give you a window into the weather here in July in the Coachella Valley. I like to check the weather report each day to see what I can expect. And my husband usually asks me every morning at breakfast, what is the temperature going to be today. This is a reasonable question when you live in the desert during the summer.
Right now the temperature is 106 F, but feels like 114 F, according to the weather report. It goes on to say that it feels like 114 because of the humidity. Our bodies can’t sweat when it is humid so we feel hotter when it’s hot.
So I’m very happy that our air conditioning is working. Not happy that our energy bill is going up along with the heat index.
I’ve gotten used to the summers in the desert. It can get hotter than 108, but it is usually dry heat which doesn’t feel hotter than it is.

Notes Tied On The Sagebrush 
I was in South Dakota last week. On the drive last Sunday across the prairie it got to be 108. I was worried the truck would overheat. There was a strong wind, and it felt so weird to stand in that hot wind. I’m surprised the dry grass didn’t just instantly combust.

We get that here as well, the hot wind sometimes. When I first experienced I too thought it felt like stepping into an oven. I do like the desert though. I think I am probably part tortoise.
