Weekend Coffee Share#35-A Walk Outside

Coffee’s up. We have French Roast today. You have your choice of bagels or toast. If we were having coffee I would tell you that the weather has been cooler for a few days. This morning I was out for a walk for the first time in a while. It felt great to walk again. There were a few others out, some taking advantage of the cooler temperature to walk their dogs. The air looked clear this morning. We have had some haze in the past week. I read we are getting smoke pollution from the fires up north. That made me hesitant to get outside a lot as well. I can hear the coffee maker is ready. Let’s grab a cup.

Have you had a chance to see the new EPIX series Chapelwaite? I binged watched the first episodes last night, a spooky gothic mystery story. That and there is a new season of Vera on Britbox. I have read a bunch of the Vera books by Ann Cleaves. She has a new book out now but I want to wait until the price drops a bit.

Besides, I have a stack of books I purchased that I have yet to read.

‘All The Devils Are Here’, by Louise Penny

‘The Witch Elm,’ by Tara French

‘The Glass Hotel,’ by Emily St. John Mandel

‘The Dictionary Of Lost Words,’ by Pip Williams (I love the title).

I have not been able to get into reading books. I want to get back to it.

Lately, I have been listening to audiobooks at bedtime, by Tara Brach and Thich Nhat Hanh. There has been so much stress and bad news that I wanted some spiritual support.

New books to read

Hi Deborah, I also enjoy the Vera series, here in Australia, and have read a few of her books. It always surprises me that they’re much wordier than the shows, I don’t know why that surprises me!! I have started the Louise Penny series about the Detective and have enjoyed them too. I have been the opposite of you, in that I’m reading sooo many books at the moment. I loved the Dictionary of Lost Words. #weekendcoffeeshare

Am glad to hear the air is cooler and clearer for your walks. Thich Nhat Hanh’s words are wise and comforting. Enjoy your books and audio books. Thank you for your #weekendcoffeeshare.

I am glad you are enjoying some cooler temps. I have the opposite problem when it comes to books, I get into them too much and they never last long. I read a lot. I ordered several books this week that I am waiting for, they are all for a class I am taking this semester (about special needs in young children, and how to make their time in school as good as possible.)
Thank you for that delicious coffee!

Yay for cooler temps! It’s still hot and sticky here in Tucson–but cooler than this time last year, when we were house hunting. I’ve been slacking on my reading too, too much scrolling of the news and social media. I’m hoping to spend some time on this long weekend digging into a medical thriller I just started.

I just finished that series of Vera on Britbox – and binged Professor T too. The Dictionary of Lost Words was really enjoyable. My 23 year old daughter is not much of a reader, but read this – it was the first book we’ve ever been able to talk about together.

You and a couple of others have enjoyed ‘The Dictionary of Lost Words’ and I find that encouraging because I have been intrigued by it. That is great you have been able to share the enjoyment with your daughter. I love mysteries too. Thanks for stopping by, Jo.

I’m glad the weather is cooler there and sorry for the smoke and fire north of you. I have not listened to audio books, but spiritual ones at bedtime sound comforting. I do listen to YouTube meditations when I need to relax or sleep.
