Our Pyracantha tree and Heavenly Bamboo are filling up with berries. I can tell the berries are ripe when the birds and squirrels start eating them. It’s a bountiful crop this year. I spotted a squirrel munching on the Pyracantha berries and caught a photo before he/she scampered off. (Click on photos to enlarge). I can tell when the squirrels are in the tree, even before I see them, because the branches start shaking. They have been known to perform acrobatic stunts, like hanging by their feet upside down while eating. They are able to clean all the berries off the tree in a couple of weeks or less with the help of the birds. Psst, I think I see a branch shaking.
Stream of Consciousness Saturday is hosted by Linda G Hill. The worst for today is an attention getting sound and/or “psst.” Featured imaged ‘Gray Squirrel’ via wikimedia.
Nice catch! I have a terrible time shooting my squirrels with my phone.

I crept up on it, while it watched me. ; I hope I can get one of a squirrel hanging upside down this year. Thank you, Joey. 🙂

That IS a great photo. The squirrels and birds must feel quite at home there.

Well since our cat is no longer with us the squirrels are pretty confident coming into our yard and they do love to eat those berries. Thank you, JoAnna. 🙂

Your squirrel looks very satisfied, Deborah 🙂
Understandable, when they can visit and eat in peace.

It is fun to watch them. I haven’t seen him yet this morning. I hope I didn’t scare him off. Thank you, Irene. 🙂

Amazing squirrel photo! I enjoyed your bright berries, too.

Thank you Sandi. I have been watching the berries change colors. They are not edible for humans but I am glad the wildlife enjoys them. 🙂

Yes they run through the trees around here too. One of our neighbors recently had a tree severely pruned and now the squirrels are more scarce. Thank you, Dan. 🙂

We have to prune a tree that they like. I’m hoping it can wait until spring do they don’t have to rebuild.

I was watching a squirrel the other day and was thinking to myself how incredibly fast they are. So agile…you see them racing from tree to tree, flying through the air, not one time ever falling down!

Yes they are pretty cute. When it is really hot I have seem them sprawled out on our wall or on a tree branch. 🙂
