Zoot Suits were a style in the 1940’s. Bright colored, long coats and baggy pants, wide brimmed hats with feathers. If you wore one you might be called “pachuco.” Or you might just like the music of Mr. Zoot Suit and want to dance.
This post is for Stream of Consciousness Saturday hosted by Linda G Hill. Mr. Zoot Suit music via The Paradise Room on You Tube and Blast From The Past Clip via Richard D on You Tube. Prompt isย “zoo.”
So fun!

Clever use of the prompt! I always enjoy this period of time, and get mad I can’t play ZOOT in Scrabble ๐

Thank You, Joey. It was an interesting time. You can’t use zoot, that does seem unfair. Can you use zook? Like in gadzooks. ๐

Well it’s a bit hard for me imagine a bunch of zoot suiters doing Funk, although, I do like James Brown. ๐

Whenever I think of zoot suits I think Jim Carrey in The Mask … unfortunately. ๐

When I was looking on You Tube regarding zoot suit music and images, Jim Carrey did pop up. But zoot suits were really connected to black and latino culture in America in the 1940s. And I like the swing music and dance of that time. The Mask took advantage of the revival of interest in the music and dance of the 1940s.
