If we were having coffee, I would tell you I lowered the umbrella on the patio this morning. There is a wind advisory in place through Sunday evening. We are advised to tie down lose objects if we live in the foothills or mountain areas and to expect blowing dust and sand. Driving conditions can be affected. We are expecting cooler temperatures down to 50 F in the early morning hours. The lower temperatures are a welcome change. I have no plans to be out in the wind except a quick run to the library to pick up some books I ordered. I may go out in the morning tomorrow to feel the cool air.
The Say’s Phoebes are building a nest over our patio door again. I see them flying up and down and sometimes they stop to rest on a patio chair. They are very hard to photograph because if they spot me in the window they take off. Their nests are sheltered from the wind under our covered patio.

Birds are so resourceful, but I don’t like it when they want to build their home in mine.

Well, they are not building in our house. 😀

Thank you for your weekend coffee share. I hope the wind and the birds don’t cause any harm to you or your home. I read that Say’s Phoebe females sometimes reuse nests from the previous season or use nests built by other species. If they reuse a nest they add a fresh lining of feathers and hair to the old nests.

I think a lot of the old nest fell down, but it is interesting that they are coming back. And I don’t know that it is the same birds.

They are pretty and cute. You can’t see their colors very well in my photo, but they have a salmon-colored chest.

Sorry to hear about the weather advisory – I know all about strong winds.. minus the sand. I hope it doesn’t get too bad for you. We have the Atlantic storms here every winter and we live in a particularly windy area, on top of a hill near the sea, so we get quite some winds even when there aren’t storms.

Sounds like a romantic setting, on top of a hill near the sea. We have had some gusts but the air looks pretty good in our neighborhood luckily. I can see the sand in the air in the distance. It is about 70 F right now and I like the cooler temperature.

I do like seeing the birds here. I picked up a couple of mysteries at the library. Good to be cozy inside reading in windy weather. The temperature feels good this morning.

I’ve never heard of that bird! I love a good wind as long as it doesn’t do damage.

I first learned about the Say’s Phoebe earlier this year when it was nesting in my yard.
