May Day

The first day of May 2021. This year has been a blur like the last one. Still feeling untethered with the days passing by. We are quietly hoping we will continue to pull out of the pandemic here in California. Disneyland is open. I am taking yoga classes in person with a mask on. Oregon is having a surge in cases and closing down again. Oregon is one of our border states so that makes me nervous. Their governor says they are in a race against the variants with vaccinations. We still need to be careful here. Let’s not rock the boat.

Looks like we have started Summer here already. No more Spring weather for us. We will be staying close to 100 degrees F for the next 2 weeks. Glad we have good AC. Maybe the heat will dissipate again before June, but many years I remember hot Mays turned into hot all the way through until the Fall. At least I feel I can go outside in 100 degree weather. Yesterday was 107.

Stream of Consciousness Saturday, #SOCS, is hosted by Linda G Hill. The prompt word for today is ‘may.’

Wow, that’s HOT!! We are only really starting our spring. May is my favorite month, the gardens aren’t overgrown yet (except from last year where I haven’t cleaned them up.) the mosquitoes aren’t biting yet. The flowers are starting to bloom. It’s all good.

We just moved into this house in February. The as was checked in the inspection. I know what you mean because we had our ac go out in the middle of a heat wave one summer in our old house.

The first year we lived in the house, the air conditioning went out. Now, we had had some pretty hot and humid days in Chicago, so we thought we could make it through the summer. By the end of June, we had bought a window unit so I could sleep at night…

I can understand that. In many parts of Southern California you’d find it hard not to have AC. In the desert we have it on at night too. We do have ceiling fans that help.

107 degrees? I’d expire on the spot. – That’s 41.666 in centigrade. Even 35 C is too hot for me. Is it humid also? Glad to hear you’re doing yoga Deborah, it’s very centering in its way besides necessary stretching and breathing. Your photo is gorgeous!

It’s amazing how plants and animals adapt to that kind of heat. We are often in the 90s in the summer here on the NC coast. It’s almost always humid, so when we get a drop in humidity, it’s big relief. YES to yoga!

The humidity makes it seem hotter. Thankfully, the heat hear is usually dry heat. Yoga has been pretty good especially the Gentle Yoga class with slow poses and stretching. Thanks for stopping by, JoAnna.
