I skyped with my brother, who resides in a Nursing Home, on Saturday and Sunday. It was good to be able to see him. We have to work on hearing him though. For some reason there is a lot of static from his end. I am going to work on getting that fixed because it is crazy I can hardly hear him. On the positive side he seems to be holding his own. Just let this continue and let him recover.

He seems to be holding his own with some improvement. Not out of the woods but I hope he keeps going in the right direction. Thank you, Anna. xo ❤

I am glad you got to Skype. This is such a stressful time in general, it must be doubly so with your brother in a nursing home too.

It is great to be able to see him on skype. It has been stressful with all the negative news about Nursing Homes. He seems to be holding his own and showing some improvement, not getting worse so far. Working out a routine with the Skype calls with the Nurses. Thanks, Dawn. 🙂

I’m glad you were able to at least make contact. I hope you can get a better connection and that your brother continues to hang in there.

The administrator said he would ask his IT guy to look into the wi-fi connection. I tell you it is an ordeal. But I ended up talking to my brother for a few minutes on the portable phone. So far he is holding steady. I wonder if you know of a voice command system that you can recommend that he could use with his laptop? Thanks, Dan.

It depends on what laptop he has (windows or Mac) and what operation system. If it’s Windows 10, Cortano is built in and works pretty well. If it’s a MacBook, Siri might be available and can be used for dictation.
I use the built in dictation into Word on Windows 10 and it works well.

We may have to help him get a new computer eventually. I think he installed some operating system on his own. He did have Windows 10. I think he needs to be able to use voice commands instead of a mouse so he can be independent.

Windows 10 has a nice group of features to improve access.

I will have to talk to him about it. I think he’s kind of a secret computer geek. He likes these alternate operating systems. He was using Linux another time. Thanks, Dan.

Yes it is great to be able to see my brother on video. The facility needs to work on their wi-fi because the audio has been bad. But I also talked to him briefly on their portable phone. When people are in isolation in a hospital or other place it helps them and their loved ones so much to be able to communicate or see them.
