Thought some of my introverted friends, (like me), might appreciate the above post from Introvert Dear. 🙂 I have often had that sinking feeling with the phrase about everyone introducing themselves. I was chuckling through most of the list in the post. Another one that stood out for me was having guests show up unexpectedly. I always like being forewarned. I can remember a particular instance when I had just gotten off work and was walking up my driveway when I noticed a couple of people walking up at the same time. My husband had invited them for dinner. It took me a while but that doesn’t happen anymore. 🙂
And here’s some humor:

I always dread introducing myself as well—but it’s such a relief when it’s over. It doesn’t usually last long, thankfully.

Yes, I just do my best but since I am semi-retired I am not called upon to introduce myself to a group very often which is one of the perks. 😉

Fortunately, we don’t have too many unexpected visitors – I am rarely as “presentable” as I would want to be, should the doorbell ring.
In the late 80’s, I attended a workshop at a yoga retreat. One of the attendees was obviously feeling overwhelmed by the numbers, and by the “let’s introduce ourselves” ice breaking exercise. She took herself to the sidelines and sat on the bench along the auditorium wall. This didn’t stop the workshop leader from singling her out – which, now that I think of it, was an act of aggression. Anyway, the leader repeated the invitation to “tell us about yourself” and the woman replied, “I’d rather chew razor-blades.” I think that sums up the sentiment quite nicely, don’t you?

I am often still in my PJs in the mornings and slow to get started until after a few (many) cups of coffee. Love that lady’s comeback. 😀 Thanks for sharing that story.
