“We are now in the mountains and they are in us, kindling enthusiasm, making every nerve quiver, filling every pore and cell of us. Our flesh-and-bone tabernacle seems transparent as glass to the beauty about us, as if truly an inseparable part of it, thrilling with the air and trees, streams and rocks, in the waves of the sun,—a part of all nature, neither old nor young, sick nor well, but immortal.” -John Muir
I have had my transcendent experiences in nature, or in listening to great opera, or even eating great food. How about eating great food in nature while listening to opera. But nature is pretty high on my list. Even enjoying the nature in my small backyard. I agree with John Muir that nature is essential to our well being and our very spirit/soul. It is where we find that we are truly connected to the earth and all its inhabitants and feel awestruck by its beauty.
JustJotItJanuary blogging challenge hosted by Linda G Hill. Today’s prompt word “transcendent” was suggested by me. 🙂 The Featured Image at the top of the page is called ‘Transcendent Moment’ by Joel Penner on Flickr.
this is beautiful, deb, and fits the word perfectly.

Second John Muir quote I’ve read today. He is my ultimate hero.
Thanks for posting.

Ah. A breath of fresh air. They say laughter is the best medicine, but for me, nature comes first. Beautiful post!

I love your photo and this very pertinent prompt. I agree with you totally. Nature can give us moments of complete transcendence and healing. I haven’t been doing the Just a Jot prompts but this one really inspires me.

Great prompt and post. Unfortunately I was too tired this evening to do it justice.

Thank you, Wendy. I know it gets pretty demanding to keep up these daily posts. And we do have our lives too don’t we. 🙂

It is demanding but it’s helping me get into the habit of at least posting regularly if not every day 🙂

I’m often tempted to listen to music when I’m outside, but then I think of the beautiful sounds of nature I’ll miss! Thanks so much for the prompt today, Deborah. 🙂

I usually am not listening to music either and love natural sounds, just kind of a what if. Except I do have a memory of being on a drive in Carmel, on a beautiful day, with gorgeous scenery, sunny, clear blue sky, and an opera CD playing….transcendent. 🙂 You are very welcome, Linda.
