I am wanting in this new year to hold tight to my feelings of possibility and optimism in spite of all the forces in play in the world that want to work against them. Creativity is always about dreams, imagination, vision, possibility, aspiration, and expression of our souls. In the darkest times the spirit can continue, it must continue. The prompt word for today is “spider.” Spiders can be associated with dark, scary things. But I don’t want to get into dark things today. Only to look them in the face and say, “You can’t scare me.”

Couldn’t agree more, Deborah! xxx

Thanks. I want to stick with. It will be my form of defiance against the dark side. 🙂

I like that attitude Deborah…..trouble is I feel I am in constant battle with them as they seem to find every nook and cranny around my house to build their webs…..

Well I was talking about the symbolic spider of dark forces but I am actually fairly tolerant of real spiders. But I read that in Australia those spiders can get really huge. I would probably not want to run into their web either. 😀

Webs are an occupational hazard I am afraid to say….have a good 2017 Deborah…

A good note to start the new year – opening up to light and facing the dark squarely! Happy 2017 🙂

It is near impossible for me to stay positive after I’ve read the morning news so I wish you success with your resolution.
Spiders and sailing…oh my oh my. I don’t like them but there they are…no time to be squeamish when you are racing. I think it’s the real reason we wear gloves, not to protect our hands from lines but so we don’t have to touch the spiders.

I know what you mean about the morning news but that is a habit of mine as well. And it can be very discouraging for sure. I have not touched a spider but sometimes I will catch them in a container and carry them outside. Maybe yours are sailing spiders. 🙂

Oh god, I thought myself an avowed arachnophobe BUT there is such a thing as
“immersion” in the thing you fear. Now it is the teens and first time sailors that say, ” ‘DuneLight’, grab that spider and throw it overboard.”
A lot of sailboats are white, squished spider guts is as gross and distasteful as spilling red wine on the deck. I’ve sailed with people who say it’s bad luck to squish it on board, feed it to the fishes. Crazy.

Well, I think you could at least give the spiders little life jackets. Wow, I did not realize spiders were such a big problem on sailboats. I guess you do not want the spiders to out number the crew but there much be a lot of other insects that are attracting them possibly?

Yep…lots of mosquitos…lots of insects drawn to water and the spiders are opportunists. 🙂

Well, there you go. Just think of the spiders as fighting the Zika virus. 😉
