Genre: Speculative Fiction
Zenarra thought the commute was worth it to have the beautiful natural landscape that surrounded her when she got home. She smiled to herself and sighed. She never thought she could be so happy.
She sensed his presence before she saw the headlights. ” How did you find me, Jolar?” she said dejectedly, ” Minat swore she would never betray me.”
” Those of royal blood have a sensor implanted at birth so that they can never be taken for ransom. You will fulfill your duty and marry Tomar with the next moon rising.”
Dear Deborah,
I find the idea of a sensor frightening. Good for pets, not for people. Unique take on the prompt.
Shalom,
Rochelle

Bloody hell, that’s depressing. There must be some escape possible. Beautifully written.

All marriages are arranged. The question is “by whom?”.
Good piece.

A modern fairy tale with a not-so-happy ending. Great story!

Thank You! Well it may not be the ending but I had to write it in 100 words. 🙂

That sensor is chilling. Nice idea for a story.

Thank You. I was trying out Speculative Fiction and I had to figure out how they would find her since she came from another planet or this could be a futuristic world.

I haven’t given up on her yet. I just had to squeeze my story into 100 words. I just wrote a sequel today. Had to get it off my chest. 🙂

So sad.. no turning back.. but I think there’s an app for that for us without royal blood.

What kind of app? The story is not over yet. Stay tuned. 🙂

Sounds like a creepy app. I just wrote a short fiction related to Ashley Madison. I wonder if it is related to that?

Good story. Too much control! She needs a way to block the signal.

So close, yet there’s no escape. I agree that a sensor is extra creepy. Well done.

Very scary, great fiction. She could cut it out, or get it hacked… perhaps.

Thank You! Yes if you want to see what happened you can read my post from today ” Princess Zenarra.” 🙂 I felt I did not want to leave that hanging.

Nice work here, although the sci fi fiction jumped in there at the end from nowhere. I was expecting a story of betrayal (from friend Minat perhaps)… I suppose the hidden chip is a betrayal of sorts in any case 🙂
Well done.

And this was a great creative take on FridayFictonairees, plus I do know some girls that actually live in that part of the world where arrange marriages is the norm and for me is more like being a slave. Great writing, and you did touch on an important subject out of that photo.

Thank You. Yes I realize that there is still a lot of arranged marriages in our world. It used to be the norm all over. I hope things will change soon and it will be a happy ending for more people. Thanks for your comment.
