Road trips are the best. When gas was cheap, people were able to travel all over by car. It still one of the best ways to see California. Get lost in your day dreams while looking out the window at the beautiful scenery passing by. Maybe some good music playing.

Probably the Great Ocean Drive in southern Victoria where the Twelve Apostles can be seen.

Thank You Dan! Yes he just died this month. George Maharis is still alive. I was thinking of the show Route 66 when I was posting my blog. I considered using their theme song too. That is why I picked the Corvette convertible. It is so iconic and related to the Route 66 TV show.

California is such a beautiful state to take a road trip! My family and I once drove from San Francisco to Los Angeles on Highway 1. It was an incredible trip with such amazing scenery. These songs you’ve mentioned are the perfect accompaniment to any road trip! Hope you’re having a great weekend!

Just reading – and I see mention of Highway #1 between L.A. and S.F. and Summerstommy 2’s response regarding Great Ocean Road here in Melbourne, Victoria. They’re remarkably similiar—hairspin curves between water and land–with Down Under difference: mirror opposites in terms of right-hand vs left-hand drives as you hug the road 🙂

I will have to look for photos of the Great Ocean Road. It is nerve wracking enough at places on Highway 1 without having to worry about driving on a different side of the road. Have you driven on the Great Ocean Road?

Once you’ve driven right-hand drive, I’ve found it’s really just a mirror image of left-hand: everything’s precisely opposite, so it’s almost ‘easy.’ My late husband drove when we travelled the great Ocean Road since it was when I first got here, and he was showing me sights. I think I could do it myself by now, though. (But would I want to?!) :))

I googled it and there are long flat stretches that don’t look too bad but there are so windy ones above the ocean. I know it would be challenge for me to drive Highway 1. But maybe you could drive just a part of it?

Yes, it can get very windy around the ocean. Here’s an idea: come on over, Mate…and we can rent a Corvette right-hand drive convertible, wear pinned-down scarves on our heads, and look for those long flat stretches as we navigate our way around the curves. Then, when we reach one of the charming seaside villages, we can stop for a cuppa and a bikkie.:)

Yes, we have Corvettes here – old and new. Holden, which is an Australian automaker, was purchased by GM Motors quite awhile ago; latest news is Holden is bringing a true sports car into their ‘family.’ A brand new Corvette model, which is due here fairly soon.
Almost time to purchase our scarves! 🙂
