The truly creative mind in any field is no more than this:
A human creature born abnormally, inhumanly sensitive.
To him… a touch is a blow,
a sound is a noise,
a misfortune is a tragedy,
a joy is an ecstasy,
a friend is a lover,
a lover is a god,
and failure is death.โ
–Pearl S. Buck
Thank you so much for this poem, Deborah; itโs very insightful.

Lovely quote, Deborah: I define myself as “mildly creative,” and I do go to extremes in my reactions (which is good and bad).
Happy Thanksgiving! My college kids are coming in tonight ๐

Thank You Sandi. I think you are more than mildly creative by the way. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! So great your kids are coming home. Mine will be here as well. That is the best! ๐

Wow, great quote, I’m not sure if I would want to be “truly creative” if I had to have all of those traits, some of them, ok… I’ve experienced them all, not all at once though. I don’t think I would be able to stay sane if that were the case, maybe that is what it takes to be truly creative, to be more than a little insane. I am bipolar though, so…

I know it does sound intense. I think what Pearl S. Buck was saying is that writers can be very sensitive people and feel things very deeply. ๐
