A pair of super-rich American technology gurus are planning to undergo surgery to install experimental implants directly into their brains. (Thanks to Allen at Division, who says “Do people not watch the movies?”)

I read this story this morning as well via Drudge. My husband said he thought the story was a fake because it was in the Mirror. What do you think?
Whew, way over my head. It’s late, I’m tired and I don’t want to believe a word of what I just read. 🙂
Thanks for the information. Now what do I do with it?

It is getting curiouser and curiouser. I think they want to be able to communicate through their brain implants with robots. It reminds me of The Borg from Star Trek, the ‘hive mind.’ 😉

Just too frightening for words!

I don’t think I would like a brain implant, but I guess it takes all kinds. 🙂

“Resistance is futile” ?? Maybe we need to start resisting now.

If these brain implants become mandatory we better resist. 🙂

I’ll look for you in the cave where we’re all hiding out. “Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition” 🙂

I know this stuff is crazy. I am reading about these AI geniuses that want to create AI capable of human level thinking. Then because these machine will be so smart they want us to have implants so we can keep up. Like bionic brains. More calm heads are saying this is a long way off. I hope the calm heads are correct. =-O

But when do we reach the point where we say enough is enough? A long way off is still probably going to happen.

I know exactly what you mean. I thought we had enough to worry about before I became aware of all this AI stuff. It must be monitored and regulated. Just because someone can make it does not make it right or good. It will take the whole world monitoring as well. Like militarization of this stuff. Some other country might want to develop the technology to their advantage. So the whole world would have to agree to not develop this stuff. I worry about what my kids will have to deal with. 🙂
