I’m sure that’s true, but self-doubt is a formidable adversary!

That’s why I picked my Amazon Queen statue getting ready for battle. 🙂 Symbolized courage for me.

While I personally lack the guts to write about anything, I think she is probably right — and I’m thankful for the people who are willing to put themselves out there. Definitely she is right about the self-doubt; sometimes it seems to be insurmountable.
I love your Amazon queen! You always find such suitable images, Deborah.

Thanks Sandi! I know, I think we all have the self-doubt thing when writing. I thought I sounded a little sappy, like you title, after I wrote that post about having a Alexander Bad Day. After having something I wrote in my own comment section become controversial when I told the other blogger yes it was about him, and others. I did not see that coming! What I learned was I can’t take criticism of my ideas personally. I have a right to say what I want on my own blog. I don’t want to insult people. But it is my blog. And I may make mistakes in commenting on others blogs too. There have been several times I have written things and had to go back and look at it over a day or two to see how it sounds. One thing that has helped is that I have read others say that first drafts can suck. I think when we are new to all this writing and blogging our stuff may not be award winning right? It is a learning process. Even learning how to deal with controversy is a learning process. I appreciate your thoughtful feedback so much. You always take the time to make a thoughtful comment.

Thank you, Deborah; I appreciate your comments as well — to me, the opportunity that we have to interact with other writers makes blogging unique.
Growing up, I was notorious for asking my mom to read a paper I’d written — and then not liking her criticism or feedback. That’s a good point about first drafts; how much time should we invest in trimming (for me) a post? I also find that, when I don’t post for a few days, I start to question why I’m doing this at all. Self-doubt is just below the surface of confidence, I think.

Another great quote! I confess, I have a lot of self-doubt, sometimes I hesitate before clicking on the “publish post” button. I will sometimes hold on to a draft for a while before posting. I’ve started to get a little braver about it but it’s still scary for me.

Oh, and I also hesitate sometimes over the “post comment” button on other people’s blogs, and I am also getting braver at that too 🙂

I know we all have that self-doubt. Writing is a learning process. And from what I have read we improve with practice. Thanks for your comment. Happy Thanksgiving!

self-doubt is a terrible foe indeed, and not just to creativity! Thank you for sharing such a great quote.
