Life After Work

I started writing about this idea on Stream of Consciousness Saturday, where I am in my life or the transition from work to not as much work. I have ( finally) made peace with the idea that career/work is not the main and most important part of my life any more. I am now moving past it. I am not wanting a career type role anymore. I do not miss it. And there is life after career life. Just thought I would let you know.  ❤

Considering that I have started dreaming of work, I quickly need to make changes to my lifestyle. I don’t want to be defined solely by my career – I know I am supposed to be building it at this point of time, but I don’t want this to be the ONLY reflection of my time.

Well, I think it is because work/career takes up such a major chunk of our daily lives. And it is easy to buy into the idea that our work defines us. It can come to define us in our minds and others. Also the idea that work/career is something we are supposed to be doing to be worthwhile individuals. But it does not have to define us. Just remember that even if you did not have your career your life is still important and worthwhile. I look forward to defining it (my life) on my own terms. Thanks, Prajakta 🙂

It’s a great philosophy to remember – We have all been told about striking the “work-life” balance and then juxtaposed with “give your work all you got and more to get ahead or you will be replaced” which makes you forget about life otherwise! Thank you, Deborah! 🙂

Yes, I have gotten to like not having a rigid schedule of having to get up early and work the whole day. I have liked the flexibility of my part-time tutoring schedule and I am looking forward to even more free time. The full-time work world definitely feels like another lifetime now. 🙂
