Spring is here but there is still some snow on the ground. I take a break after my morning walk and my feet rest on the drifts. At least the sun is out and the view is good. It used to be that I never had time to walk in the mornings because I had a job. Since I was involuntarily unemployed at the beginning of the year, I have a lot of time on my hands, and not a lot of money. It’s a good thing that this bench with a view is free. Looking out over the calm water soothes my spirit. I think I will check those job listings again. Maybe there is one that’s just the right fit for me.

Wonderful story, Deborah! I feel the disappointment in her voice for being laid off yet her hope come back at the end of the story. I really like that!

The feeling of being involuntarily unemployed is such a frustrating one. I like that you gave the character a sense of hope 🙂

It is really frustrating and unfortunately too many people are experiencing it these days. I am glad she has some hope, too. Thanks, Jade. 🙂

Nice story. She hasn’t given up and is using her time away from employment to enjoy things like walking and sitting while enjoying the view, yet, knows she will eventually get another job and will keep trying to get one. At least she is enjoying some aspect of unemployment.

Yes I was keeping it upbeat. I don’t know if I would have the positive attitude. Thanks, JC. 🙂

I can relate to her. Even I am still employed, I once felt that fear when our company had a layoff. The frustration and the uncertainty. But it’s good that she’s keeping a positive outlook until the very end. 🙂 Great take!

My mom and dad always spoke of the times they had no money because they had no jobs. I was on the way and their only entertainment was walking the beaches in Monterey. Yet, those were their fondest memories, and now when I walk those beaches they’re my fondest ones, too. Hope things turn around and the bend can become a fond memory.

Your parents shared a time when they had to overcome a rough patch. And they made it through. Monterey is beautiful. Yes, my story was a fiction but many of us have had hurdles and rough patches in our lives. Here’s to all of us overcoming them! 🙂 Thanks, Clee. 🙂
