Even though I have donated about 100 books to the library in recent years we still have a large collection in our house. My husband collects Easton Books, mostly of classics. We have law books, history books, cook books, and mystery books. I have given away many of my books, especially paperbacks, because they deteriorate quickly, take up space, and collect dust. I have held onto some hardcover favorites like David Copperfield, Pride and Prejudice, The Secret Garden, to name a few. I do have several paperbacks of various subjects and genres here right now but will most likely donate many of them eventually. My favorite history books are by David McCullough,’ John Adams’, ‘Truman’, and ‘1776.’ I love books, real paper and hardcover books, not so much the digital ones.

    We have always had lots of books and it was a close call that I wrote about books or photos. This time I was drawn to photos. My father who was always reading had many books he always told us to pass them on. 💜

      It is good to pass some on but I will probably always want to have a small collection. I did sort through and organize a lot of our photos a while ago, putting many in albums. I have a plastic bin with others I did not want to part with. Digital photos are more convenient for storage but many of the photos are from before we had digital.

    We have a lot of books too but I was trying to use the library more rather than accumulate more books. Of course with lockdown and closures the library wasn’t an option so more books have found their way onto my Kindle lol.

      I was like you and using the library, but lately it is easier to buy books. And I have allowed my self this pleasure right now. I do read books on my computer Kindle sometimes but I like books on paper better.

        I prefer paper books too but downloading to the Kindle app is sooo easy lol. I’ve justified buying more books from the money I’ve saved getting my hair done during this pandemic!

        We are spending not spending on other entertainment like going to the movies or restaurants or even weekend trips, and my hair is getting long, so I feel like I can allow myself to buy a few books. 🙂

    I ran out of space and got rid of all but a few sentimental. I have embraced the San Antonio Public Library online portal which feeds to my Kindle reader. I still prefer paper but resist the urge.

    I have so many books, and so does my husband. I do donate to the book sales from time to time, but I keep my favorites. I like the real books better than those on my Kindle, but have a lot of those, too. 🙂

    I love real books, too. Even though I also love trees, holding a book in my hands, turning the pages, the smell….. they are so personal, like old friends. I inherited many from my parents – it was somewhat overwhelming, the numbers, but I eventually managed to donate most of them, keeping the classics like the Mark Twain set.

    I have to admit that today I mainly read ebooks. Not so much out of choice rather because I like to read self-published authors and their books are so often only online.

    However, a friend of mine stored some of my boxes from moving and she send me some of them recently with several of my old books. They are like friends something an ebook never can be 🙋‍♀️🐝
