“If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.” ~ Marcus Tullius Cicero
I have been ordering books from my local public library online. They send me an email when my books are ready for pick up. There is a whole procedure to borrowing books now. You can’t go into the library. You have to call the library when you are ready to pick up the books so they can get them ready for you. Then you park outside and call to notify them you are waiting. One of the staff brings the books out to a table. Then you put on a mask and go to get your package off the table. The staff was thoughtful to include a bookmark and some extra reading material with my order today.
One Liner Wednesday, #1linerWeds, is hosted by Linda G Hill.
I like how some people take the time and make an effort to make things a little nicer.

The staff at my local library are great. I was happy to see what they included. I love bookmarks.

So interesting! You’re the first person I’ve heard from that’s using the library. I’d wondered how they were handling all this.

The libraries were closed for a few weeks at first and then it was announced that they were opening again with these new ways of operating. The patrons and staff must maintain a distance from each other. You are not allowed to go near the pick up table until they walk away. They quarantine the books between check outs for a few days too. This is how the public library does it in LA County. Not sure if this is universal in the US.

Kind of takes browsing out of the equation, but that’s what Goodreads etc. are for. Have you tried Overdrive yet? https://www.overdrive.com/

Yes I pick up ideas for books from other places. But I think I did that before the shut down. I would read a review or see a book mentioned in an article, etc. Thanks for the Overdrive link. I do like reading physical books though if at all possible. I have been splurging a bit more on Amazon and Barnes and Noble and just buying myself a few books.
