Do you ever wonder in what direction you life is going? In these pandemic times it feels like I’m waiting for life to start over again and time is moving very slowly. My life is passing by while I stay in place. I don’t feel so frustrated all the time. I do find things to do. I have been able to start reading books again. For a while, I could not focus on them. I recently read, ‘Where The Crawdads Sing’ by Delia Owens and a new book By Ann Cleeves, ‘The Long Call.’ Ann Cleeves has written two book series that have been made into popular television mystery shows, ‘Vera’, and ‘Shetland.’ I had not read any of her books and now I am looking forward to next book coming out in September with the Vera character. I bought a collection of the ‘Vera’ paperbacks and two other paperback mysteries I found on Amazon. So I am all stocked up with mysteries for now.
My eggplant is surviving with the protective tent over it and two more are coming in. I am just not sure when to harvest it or if it will be any good to eat, another mystery.
I am not trying to brush off how difficult these times are. I consider myself a patient person but this is a major test of patience. It is still a work in progress for me and I have to keep trying to do better.

I can relate. I’m finally reading again too. That’s a blessing. For a while I thought I might never read for pleasure again. Here’s to continued progress for all of us.

Always so glad to see your posts. Let me know how the eggplant turns out. I haven’t read the Ann Cleeves books but Michael and I have watched a lot of ‘Shetland’ episodes. We’ve always enjoyed them. I read ‘Where the Crawdads Sing’. What a story!! I hear that they are going to make a movie of it. I wonder what changes they’ll make post Covid. So far we’re still in the Covid moment. I spoke to Mike today and told him it’s a possibility that Helen and Michael will move near you. They should know in a couple of weeks.

I will post updates on the eggplant. I have watched ‘Vera’ and ‘Shetland.’ So I thought I would read the books and hope I don’t remember all the stories so they will be fresh to me. Maybe we’ll see more of each other if Helen moves here. That would be nice. Thank you, Cynthia.

Hi Deborah yes these last several months have been tough. For some, more so, if I think for example of your brother’s recent death. Although I’m an avid reader this has not been the case these last months. Glad for you that you’ve found something to catch your interest! Your egg plant looks amazing!

I am thinking it is a shift internally but not sure why because the pandemic is not yet contained and we have a ways to go before we will be safe from the threat. I am glad I am able to read books, though. I am happy about my eggplant. Thank you for remembering my brother. Thank you, Susan.

Reading has been one of my happy places during Covid times. I read “Where the Crawdads Sing” last year – one of my all-time favorites – but have found excellent writers and reads since then. I just finished another John Sanford mystery (Virgil Flowers series), which is where I go when I simply want to be entertained by a good mystery writer.
I hope your eggplant turns a lovely, edible shade of purple!

It’s been years since we grew a garden, so it’s nice to see you have the eggplant going good. I know what you mean about keeping focus long enough to get interested in a book. At first I was like this, but then I started in on some of my favorites, and have just kept going re-reading everything. It fills the time, and my mind with things other than all the scary news. 🙂

Glad you have been able to enjoy reading too. That eggplant is doing pretty good now. The cucumber plant has played out and the tomatoes have been sacrificed to the critters. It has been fun though growing them. Thank you, Barbara.
