Brother Worry

The Los Angeles Times Editorial Opinion page today:

The Brutality of Coronavirus Triage; Assigning a different value to different individual’s lives is immoral.

“Disability rights organization have filed complaints with the federal government against Alabama, Tennessee, Utah, Pennsylvania, and Kansas over the crisis care triage protocols..” California has stepped back it’s guidelines and is calling it a draft.

I posted on the California Department of Public Health triage guidelines the other day. They struck me as descriminatory.

In my own life, I am doing ok. My brother is battling something which could be coronavirus. He has not been tested as far as I know. I felt better today because the staffing is better at his Nursing Home and I know he had care this morning. He was too tired to Skype with me. I made sure the Charge Nurse was aware of what my brother was reporting to the family yesterday about how he was feeling. He seems to be holding his own right now.

    Hi Debbie,

I hope your brother is doing well. It makes it more difficult for you that you are far away but even if you were closer, you still couldn’t go in to see him. Hoping he recovers well and soon. Thinking of you. It is a difficult time for so many and more so when someone dear to you is not well. You are a wonderful sister and have been such a good advocate for him.

He’s not too far but it is a drive to go there and no visitors allowed in the facility. It is frustrating when I don’t know all that is going on there. The Nurses have been good at answering my questions. I think most of the staff is kind which is so important. I worry about the staffing but I will keep tabs on it and him. Thank you very much, Dan. ❤
