This year I definitely need a winter coat in California and a raincoat to boot, (and boots to boot). It has been a long time since I needed winter clothes here in Southern California because it never gets cold enough. We are expecting a real winter for a change after several years of drought. I am liking the change in weather here.

What constitutes “winter coat” weather in southern California? Just curious.

Well typically, in the past few years, it is light coat or sweater needed only, but this winter the temperatures have been dropping to 40s and 50s, 30s over night. And we have rain. Ofcourse, in the mountains we have snow. It is not an eastern winter but I am not really wanting to compare it to that. Just really nice to have a change of seasons and RAIN. Hope it lasts. 🙂

I do hope you get enough rain to bring back the green and end your worries. 30s are cold enough for a winter coat, wherever you live. I always for get that you can get up into the mountains if you want to play in the snow.

Thank you, Dan. Yes Mamouth is expecting a ton of snow and Yosemite is closed due to major storm hitting this weekend. But because of the drought we have had less snow in recent years too. 🙂

So glad CA is finally getting some rain and “normal” winter weather. I lived in the Bay Area for nearly 20 years and the recent ongoing drought was just awful to read about.

Yes, it has been crazy with the drought and thinking maybe it will never end. Now we have hope that it will end. 🙂

California desperately needs more rain. I was visiting my sister last year, near Palm Springs. It was in the 50’s and 60’s a few of the days and rained while I was there. It helped put out a fire. Rain: Nature’s fire hydrant. 🙂

Yes, we have been very dry without much change of seasons. The desert will often stay balmy but gets very cold at night in the winter. But it can get rain and flash floods. Rain and water and very important for us here. 🙂

Don’t get a Brit started on weather… it is all relative but i am pleased you are enjoying the global warming and I have said for years it has to be good for some 😉 Good post!

Ha, ha . Well I am not sure if it’s global warming but we have been having a crazy drought here. Southern California has always had kind of crazy seasons. I always say we never have a real Fall or Autumn or maybe it is for a few days. Thank You!

It seems that most things are blamed on global warming at the moment. Maybe it’s just time for weather shuffling.

It does seem to be shuffling in a good way right now. 🙂

I don’t dare go anywhere in Germany during this time of the year without a coat. We have minus temperatures here at the moment.
