I am sorry to hear about Barbara Beacham who hosted Mondays Finish the Story and the blog My Life in the Foothills. I have participated in Barbara’s Flash Fiction challenges in the past few weeks and followed her recent posts about her battle with cancer. Her husband posted the news this morning that she has passed. She was very supportive and kind in her comments, and in her posts about her illness she showed a great spirit and courageousness. I wanted to post this as an expression of appreciation for her.
I’m sorry to hear of Barbara’s passing. May she rest in peace.

Hi,
My heartfelt condolences go out to you and to her family. I didn’t know her, but I know what it feels like to lose a supportive person whom you have met over the internet.
Shalom,
Patricia

Thank You, Pat. I did not know her for very long but she impressed me as a very nice person and I enjoyed participating in her flash fiction challenges. I think hers was the first one I participated in. She had shared a few weeks ago that her health was worsening. This is the first time I have known of a fellow blogger, who I have interacted with, that died. I send my condolences to her husband as well. He requested no comments on his announcement and I wanted to say something.

Like you, I felt I needed to do something or say something to bring some closure. I have been very sad since learning the news of her passing. She and I began emailing each other prior to her finding out she had lung cancer. Michael, with summer’stommy, Shivangi and I thought it would be nice to have a flash fiction challenge in her honor to help us all grieve and bring closure. Friday I will be sending out a flash fiction challenge from Flash Fiction for Aspiring Writers for those who would like to participate, to write a story to honor and remember Barbara. I hope you will participate.
