“Not knowing what to expect, he made his way into the dark of the forest.” His doctor had told him at his last checkup that he must get some exercise. He decided this was the day to begin. It was the first day of his vacation. He walked determinedly toward the hiking trail. It was a 2 mile loop and he thought he was up to the challenge. As he hiked further and further along the trail he thought to himself, This seems longer than 2 miles and I should have brought a water bottle! That was when he heard it. A loud snorting and the thumping of a heavy footed creature. The kids must have hidden the warning sign again, the Ranger remarked. Every year we get one of these hikers run through by the wild boars.

This was a little hard to read, as I just started hiking again this year after a a long number of years without hiking. Good story though 🙂

Thank You Dan. Hard to read because…

Because I’m worried (now) that I’m gonna get eaten 🙂

Wanted to clarify that. Well you won’t get eaten, just gored. This came to mind because I was up in Pacific Grove and saw a crossing sign for wild boars. I did not know their were boar up there. And I went hiking that weekend. 😀

OK good. Are their wild boars in Pennsylvania? I found out that California is loaded with em. AAAAH!

I don’t know. I haven’t been there for a long time, but they have more deer than anywhere on the planet. Of course deer won’t hurt you, but you might get shot by a hunter with a bad aim.

People hunt the boars in California so maybe I could either get shot or gored. 😀 I thought you were in Pennsylvania? arg!

I grew up there and I talk about it a lot, but I’m in Connecticut. No boars here, but plenty of people who can bore you to death.

Ok now it is clear in my mind. I think those bores can be worse than the boars. 😀

Thank you Tom. 🙂 Yes I saw a crossing sign for wild boar up near Monterey and that is what inspired this. I did not realize there were still wild boar in that area.

That was a gruesome end. So much for exercise in the woods. Yeah, I’m good! 🙂

That is terribly dangerous for the kids to hide the sign of “Wild Boars.” I hope they didn’t eat the hiker!

Well I thought of goring but not eating. 🙂

Wouldn’t they gore first then eat?

I would hope so. I would rather be gored first. I think. The wild boars don’t eat people. But maybe they would if you were already dead.

Hmm, I thought they did. I don’t know for sure.

It’s amazing what kids think is funny…until the table is turned on them! Maybe the warning should be written in stone. Enjoyed. 🙂

I head boars on the brain and was up hiking in Monterey county. I saw a crossing sign on a highway for boars. I found out there are wild boars up there. 🙂
