How can a person fit a life into a U Haul trailer? I couldn’t take everything. I had to leave quickly or I might lose my nerve. It was like when we had to evacuate that night the wild fires came. Deciding what was essential to take with us. I ended up taking some books, a few clothes, and mementos from my kids. My daughter’s baby shoes, a valentine card from my son when he was little, and some of their photos. A friend is letting me stay at her house on the rocky Monterey shore.
This is my contribution to Friday Fictioneers hosted by the gracious Rochelle Wisoff-Fields.
So little you can bring.. hopefully it will be a possibility to start anew.

Yes how do we decide what is the most important?

Your blog title reminds me of that old Western movie with Sam Elliot. It was a nice movie…

Dear Deborah,
That would be difficult, but hopefully freeing. Nicely done.

I thought about using the U-haul in my story but threw out the idea. You, my dear, did a great job using it for the center of your story. Kudos.

My wife, my collies, my guitars (in that order): the rest can burn.
Good piece.

She is my life: to exclude her would be suicide.

They’ve remember to take things which can’t be replaced – the mementos – rather than a pile of iPhones and the like. That’s a good start and will make them feel more at home wherever they end up.

Yes and it is actually one woman who is running away. Thank you for reading. 🙂

Sometimes I wish I were put into a position to choose just the important stuff! Great way to purge!

It is pretty awful actually. We had to do it in the middle of the night once.
