This is one of the most fun aspects of writing. I always seem to know where I’m going but the characters have their own ideas how to get there!

Yes and I find I am ending up with a different story at the end, different from the one I thought it would be. Hopefully better than the one I started with. 🙂 I think once we let the creative process loose we never know where it will take us. 🙂
