The American University of Nigeria is offering full scholarships to some of the girls who escaped from the Boko Haram. This is a very inspiring article from Smithsonian. Margee Ensign is the President of the university and a very courageous woman and native of my state of California. My heart breaks and I am sickened reading about the suffering of these women.  I am in awe of their spirit. We can not forget them.

      Just a few of them escaped. These girls are still haunted by their friends who have not yet been found. It is true that the world turns away after the first breaking news. The military did free some girls as well, I believe, but not all of them.

        The tabloid stuff makes me sick too. Garbage. The stories like these about the girls are so painful to read and I wonder what can I do. I feel I have to turn away from it all. All the bad stuff in the world. But then I love reading about a glimmer of hope like this article.

        I follow some websites that concern my interests. I get enough “news” with the newsfeed on my internet connection webpage. I do skim the Huffington Post, sometimes LA Times, and couple of other sites for current events. I usually scroll quickly past the tabloid kind of stuff. I do follow Smithsonian.com and that is how I got this article and others I like to write about.

      Yes it is so hard for me to think of what has happened and is happening to those girls. I want to believe that someday, and it can’t come soon enough, good with triumph over this evil. I want to believe that they will survive and be returned.

    I agree, it makes a person sick to think of the garbage that fills the airwaves when the disappearance of these young girls should take precedence. It sickens the heart, but the only way to make our hearts heal is to solve these problems, not bury them. If it were oil that had disappeared the world would begin a war to get it back – but young women – nothing. I just read of the rapes done by ISIS – buried deep on the web, not even discussed by the media! Priorities need to change!

      Looks like a pattern of these terrorists (thugs) to break down the spirit of women. It is retaliation against these women for daring to want to have an education or live their lives according to their own beliefs.
