      You are getting close to the limits of my French which is tres mal. But I know what you mean. I have thought that too at times. Especially when I had gone into Neiman Marcus when it first opened in Beverly Hills and saw some of the fashions and the prices. I saw this quote that I liked on this subject “Haute Couture should be fun, foolish and almost unwearable.” – Christian Lacroix I like the idea that it should be fun.

        I’m just about at my limits of French, too. I think if you tag clothing with a French word, you can command a higher price for it.

        Probably true or vrais. I studied French for a bit in college and I thought it was a beautiful language. Very poetic. But I have a tough time learning another language. All those verb tenses.

    Never learned French even though I wanted to. I was stuck in Latin for 3 years. Always wanted to speak Spanish, but that never happened either. No head for languages. At times I’m surprised I can speak English lately. Enjoyed reading the post though. Anything written in French looks–magnifique.

      Thank You, merci 🙂 Moi aussi, me too, I hear yah! I wish I was better at learning other languages. Wow, Latin for three years. I heard Rosetta Stone is good for learning languages. Spanish would be very useful especially here in California. And it is supposed to be very good for our brains to learn another language.

        I’ve heard that about good for the brains, but have advanced MS, so not much brain power left. Some days I forget my own name. Definitely forget my age, and conveniently forget if the kids are really mine or if they belong in a juvenile home–actually more like a prison camp now. They are all over 45 years old.
        Gracias, grazie, danke, thank you, and merci. Or as we used to say–mercy buckets. That is the whole gamut of my foreign languages now. Gaulla divisa est in tres partes. I still can translate the dead language to an extent, the one think I would love to forget is engraved on my brain.

      I did not know it was mandatory in Canada. Parlais vous Francais? I would say Je parle un peux tres mal. Un petite peux. The requirement for entrance into the University of California was to have 2 years of another language. I chose French because I thought it was a pretty language. Mais c’est tres difficile pour moi. I have a hard time learning another language. Many kids fulfill the language requirement in High School. My daughter and husband are both good at languages. My daughter studied French, Italian and Spanish. Maybe someday I will try again 😦 Many people here, especially in California, learn to speak Spanish. My husband started studying Spanish in elementary school.
