Yes we do. We need badges for completing the November daily blogging challenge NaBloPoMo and Nano Poblano. It gives one a sense of accomplishment and relief as well to be finishing. It was quite an experience. It seems like it was so long ago that we started. I do appreciate my badges.
But thinking of badges got me thinking of the title of another classic film. The Treasure of the Sierra Madre starring Humphrey Bogart and Walter Huston. It was directed by John Huston. There is a famous line in the film uttered by the leader of a gang of banditos when he was asked to show identification to verify his claim of being a Federales. Here is the film clip via John Benedetti on You Tube:
The film was adapted from the book of the same name by B. Traven.
It is a classic story of the search for gold and the how greed affects people.
Well some more good news. It is raining in Southern California! It will not make up for the long drought but it is a start.
|Nano Poblano| farewell until next time.
Congratulations on your much-deserved badges! And hooray for the rain!

Yay for both the rain and for your accomplishment! Well done! We’ve been getting a lot of rain up here in Portland too, but nothing new there 🙂 I never knew the origin of that line! I’ve seen it used other places, and I’ve used it myself a time or two (inserting the operative word in place of “badges”, usually “rules”). Thanks for the post!

Thanks for your comment. Glad you enjoyed the post. I have used the expression myself as well! Portland is very pretty. Oregon does get more rain but that is why it is so green.

Your movie clip made me laugh out loud, Deborah — and it is so appropriate! Yes, you absolutely deserve your badge: congratulations on keeping your NaBloPoMo pledge! (I own “Treasure of the Sierra Madre” on DVD, but I’m not sure I’d have recognized the line; that is one dark classic.)

Thanks Sandi. 🙂 I am glad you got a laugh out of it. It is a funny part of the movie. Yes the film has it dark parts for sure but it is a great tale.

If we’re going stage and screen, Deborah …
Parting is such sweet sorrow.
See you soon, my friend. Nano Poblano is only 11 months away, by the way. 🙂

Thanks Mark. I know I was feeling a bit of a let down after all the effort. We are not parting because I will be popping in on your blog. Right now I am glad to have some down time from Nano Poblano, 11 months should do it. 😀
