Cloudy outside the window. The kind of cloudy where the sky is mostly light gray. Not the kind of cloudy I like, the cloudy when the sky is blue with some assorted fluffy white clouds. Or the kind of cloudy that has some dark grays that indicate a storm may be coming. This kind of cloudy is just sitting there. Pretty bland. No storm portended. Just kind of drab. Subdued. Damping down my mood a bit.
It would be fun to be able to take my box of crayons. The big box that has at least 64 different colors in it. To color the sky timberwolf, periwinkle, cadet blue, silver, purple mountain majesty, and wisteria.
What kind of cloudy do you prefer?
I like that thought, to color the sky when we need it to be bright.
(I have a box of crayons in my desk here at work 🙂 )

Thank You.Yes. I love crayons. But I don’t get them out for myself lately. I carry them to the kids I tutor. I need to get them out and use them for myself. Don’t you love a new box of crayons? 🙂

At the risk of sounding sentimental, I’ll say that I like clouds at sunset, with fiery colors obscured by the clouds. For whatever reason, the sight of unused crayons always makes me smile. By the way, Deborah, your cloud photo wasn’t showing when I read the post: just that little mountain icon in the white box. You might need to upload it again?

Thanks Sandi. I noticed that the photo was not showing as well. Technology arrgh! It is a photo from my computer that I took myself with my smart phone. I love new crayons. I love clouds at sunset too. The colors can be spectacular.

What an enchanting description, Deborah. The cloudy I prefer is one which does not mutate into rainy. I live in the beautiful Lake District, but it rains and rains … and then rains some more!

Thanks Anna! Could you send some of that rain to California? Maybe someday I will see England. It does sound beautiful.

With pleasure – how much would you like? But I understand California is also beautiful – albeit in a different way.

We need a lot of rain because we have had a drought. Send as much as you can spare. California is very beautiful.

I like the big, puffy, white cumulus clouds that sit in the sky like oversized pieces of cotton or cauliflower on a sunny day–reflecting shades of yellow, blue, and gray. 🙂

Sunrise, sunset, bright blue sky in between! Gray skies are OK, but not as much fun to color, Deborah. My opinion, anyway. I am the kind that has a very hard time coloring inside the lines regardless. 🙂 FYI, I don’t know if it’s my end or your choice, but the photo box up top on this post really is just white with jpeg numbers and “Cloudy gray sky via me” at the top inside the box. Maybe WordPress didn’t publish the image? Good post neverthess. I love seeing Crayola Crayons every day of the week. It makes my mind bring back the smell of them!

Thanks Mark! So crazy because the image is in my image library. So maybe I need to do something with it. It is my own photo from my computer. Well, you don’t have to color within the lines if you are coloring the sky. Thanks for commenting. 🙂

Sometimes WordPress is a little senstive with images. 🙂 Yes, in the sky, I can color in streaks without restraint. Good call there, Deborah!

Like you, I prefer the cloudiness that indicates a storm is brewing; the air even feels different! On a side note, I like that you mentioned the color periwinkle; that was one of my favorite crayola colors! I also liked salmon — not carnation pink, but salmon. It came out so much richer. 🙂

Yes, I feel like if it is going to be gray it might there might as well be rain. Like the changes in weather too.I love the names of the Crayola colors. I was wondering who names them. That would be a great job for me. There really is a timberwolf color. I noticed recently there is sunflower. 🙂

Ha, I never thought of that; it really would be fun to name the colors!

Yes I gave up on my own photo. I must have been doing something wrong. I chose one from Creative Commons and cropped it.

I have had my photos stop showing if I edit them in WordPress more than once or twice. A few times, I have had to upload them again and delete the original one.

Thanks for the tip Sandi. That’s exactly what I did, editing. And I am not used to the image edit feature on wordpress and after attempting it several times I realized I was not doing it correctly. It is not very intuitive. I will try what you recommend next time to delete and upload again.

I love the cover pic on your blog…, and I’m glad I’m not the only one who writes about the weather. I think that’s a rural thing, or being raised on a farm thing. Do city folk think about what it’s doing outside all the time? I wouldn’t know, having never been one.
